TV Wall Mounting

what are the best things about a smart tv

Televisions are getting smarter by the minute and yours might be cleverer than you think.

  1. Get Casting

With casting, you can wirelessly beam content from your Smartphone to display on your TV, including streaming services and apps such as Netflix or YouTube.  Look out for the symbol above on your phone screen to get connected.

2. Smart Home Control

Not all TV’s can do this but more are getting the capability.  Your TV acts as a handy hub to easily see what all your smart devices are up to so you can control bulbs, thermostats, CCTV and much more from your sofa.

3. Connect a USB hard drive

Most TV’s have a single or twin tuner PVR which let you record (or record whilst watching) shows on to a USB hard drive.  You can also copy video files on to a USB hard drive from a PC and watch on your TV.

4. Use an app as a remote

If your remote control is lost or broken you can download a universal  remote app on your Smartphone to continue controlling your TV

5. Talk To It!

You’ll need a newish TV for this one, but you can control it with your voice to change channels and inputs, and search for your apps for something to watch.  The function is either built in or works via Google Home or Amazon Echo.

Stick it on the wall

As much as it’s a foreboding thought, Christmas is fast approaching and televisions are often a perfect gift particularly for kids or an indulgence for the grownups!! Nowadays it’s not uncommon to see anything from a 49” to 65” behemoth gracing lounges and bedrooms around the country and because of the size of modern TV’s finding a spot to put them in can be a headache. Well, let AB Aerials take that pain away as we offer a fantastic TV wall mounting service. The results can be stunning seeing a telly miraculously floating mid-wall out of the way of tiny and often grubby paws. Also it frees up space that can be utilised for let’s say a wine rack, a beer refrigerator or perhaps even a bookshelf.

What is sometimes overlooked is how is that hovering TV is going to be powered, how will it get its signal and how can I connect my devices to it such as games console or recorder? In other words where will the necessary evil cables go?

What to consider when wall mounting a TV

  1. The proximity of your electrical/aerial/satellite sockets
  2. Do they require moving
  3. Do you want the cables to be buried in the wall (and having to take into account the cost of plastering and redecorating)
